Bitcoin is moving back toward $81,000, rising nearly 2% as buyers return ahead of the Federal Reserve’s upcoming FOMC policy announcement. The recovery follows a challenging period for BTC, which recently dropped below $80,000 amid uncertainty over the central bank’s interest-rate outlook.
Equity markets have provided support for the rebound. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.18%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.60% at Tuesday’s close. In Asia, South Korea’s KOSPI rallied 6.63%, moving back above 6,000 points as optimism surrounding semiconductor demand boosted regional stocks.
However, the broader market recovery faces a crucial test from monetary policy. Traders largely anticipate that the FOMC will leave interest rates unchanged, but persistent inflation and rising Treasury yields continue to raise the possibility of another increase. Bitcoin’s direction may therefore depend not only on the Fed’s decision but also on its guidance about future policy.
Bitcoin Price Rebounds as Nasdaq and KOSPI Advance
Bitcoin’s latest recovery coincides with renewed strength in technology stocks across major global markets. The Nasdaq Composite closed Tuesday at 26,477.81, while the S&P 500 ended the session at 7,722.60. Both indexes extended their gains as investors returned to technology shares, particularly businesses associated with artificial intelligence.
South Korea’s stock market posted an even stronger recovery. The KOSPI climbed 6.63% to finish at 6,012.44, supported by record quarterly earnings from SK Hynix and the company’s plans to return capital to shareholders. The gains also reflected growing confidence in demand for AI-related semiconductors.
Continued strength in equities could benefit Bitcoin if investors become more willing to take risks. However, BTC remains below $82,000, leaving it short of a key threshold that could help reinforce bullish momentum.

FOMC Rate-Hike Concerns Remain Despite Expectations of a Pause
The Federal Reserve’s policy announcement remains the primary near-term catalyst for Bitcoin, even as traders strongly favor an interest-rate hold. Polymarket assigns a 95% probability to unchanged rates, compared with approximately 4% for a 25-basis-point increase.
CME FedWatch data also indicate that a pause is the most likely outcome, with fed funds futures pricing in a 91% probability of rates remaining unchanged. Nevertheless, the possibility of a hike has not disappeared entirely.
Investors are also watching for signals from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh regarding the December meeting. Annual inflation accelerated to 3.7% in September, while higher energy costs associated with the Iran war have made the inflation outlook more complicated.
Even if the Fed keeps rates unchanged, a hawkish message could weigh on Bitcoin. Indications that borrowing costs may remain high for longer—or increase again—could push Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar higher. Such conditions would reduce the appeal of speculative investments and potentially undermine BTC’s recovery.
On the other hand, a more dovish tone could provide support without an actual rate cut. If the Fed maintains rates but offers less aggressive guidance on future policy, investors may view the announcement as an opportunity to increase their exposure to risk assets.
Can Bitcoin Reclaim $82,000?
Bitcoin’s immediate challenge is to build on its move above $80,000 and establish a more durable recovery. The $82,000 region remains a key level to watch as traders look for confirmation that bullish momentum is returning.
A sustained move above $82,000 could strengthen the short-term outlook and put $84,000 within reach. However, if Bitcoin fails to overcome resistance, sellers could push the price back toward $80,000 for another test of support.
The FOMC announcement could produce sharp price swings, although its influence on Bitcoin’s medium-term direction is not always straightforward. Markets frequently anticipate policy decisions in advance, meaning unexpected changes in the Fed’s outlook can have a greater impact than an expected rate decision itself.
If the central bank leaves rates unchanged as anticipated, Bitcoin could experience substantial intraday volatility without establishing a clear trend.
Historical price movements shown in the chart above also suggest that Bitcoin does not follow a consistent pattern after FOMC announcements. BTC has declined following some rate holds before recovering, while other meetings have been followed by gains despite unchanged rates or tighter monetary conditions.
