Ripple News: Privy Teams Up With Ripple to Support XRP Ledger Wallets

Privy is teaming up with Ripple to develop XRP Ledger wallets for fintech applications and AI-agent payments, with transaction policy controls and gas sponsorship planned for future development.

In the latest Ripple news, Privy, a company owned by Stripe, announced on October 13, 2026, that it had partnered with Ripple to introduce programmable wallets on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The collaboration aims to help developers build financial applications and AI-driven payment systems using XRP, RLUSD, and other assets supported by the network.

According to Privy, XRPL has more than 8 million funded accounts and has processed over $1 trillion in value transfers throughout its more than 14-year history. The partnership goes beyond a standard wallet integration, combining embedded stablecoin payments for consumer applications with server-side wallets that enable software agents to store and transfer funds. These capabilities also extend to x402 payment flows for purchasing digital services.

The announcement comes as XRP/USD trades at $1.37, marking a 0.5% decline over the past 24 hours. Its seven-day performance is weaker, with the token losing nearly 7%. Meanwhile, daily XRP trading volume has climbed from $1.4 billion the previous day to $1.7 billion.

Ripple News: What Will the Privy and XRPL Integration Offer?

The integration will allow developers to create and manage XRP Ledger wallets programmatically while using Privy’s infrastructure to sign transactions. Supported assets will include XRP, RLUSD, and other tokens issued or available on the ledger. Developers will also be able to incorporate x402 payment mechanisms into applications designed for AI-agent commerce.

For fintech companies and payment providers, embedded wallets offer a way to introduce stablecoin payments directly into existing products without requiring customers to manage private keys themselves. Privy also provides users with the ability to export their private keys and seed phrases, preserving control over their wallets and allowing them to move their assets when needed.

The x402 functionality broadens the partnership’s potential applications beyond conventional consumer payments. Server-side wallets could enable AI agents to pay for services such as API access, data, and computing resources. This approach aligns with the wider development of x402-based payments for AI agents on XRPL.

However, Privy’s announcement does not disclose transaction volumes, identify businesses already using the integration, or confirm how extensively these capabilities have been deployed.

Ripple and Privy have highlighted XRPL’s fast settlement speeds, relatively low transaction fees, and ability to support assets ranging from stablecoins to tokenized real-world assets as important advantages for developers. Privy plans to expand its integration with additional policy controls and gas sponsorship, although neither a launch date nor detailed implementation plans have been provided.

Embedded Wallets and AI-Agent Commerce in the Ripple-Privy Partnership

Privy characterizes the XRP Ledger as a decentralized Layer 1 blockchain designed to facilitate the transfer and exchange of digital assets. Its announcement emphasizes the network’s more than 8 million funded accounts and over $1 trillion in transferred value accumulated across more than 14 years of operation.

The partnership distinguishes between two important wallet models. The first involves embedding wallets directly into fintech applications, simplifying the user experience by reducing the need for customers to handle private keys during routine transactions.

The second model uses server-side wallets to facilitate payments initiated by software agents. These wallets could allow applications to authorize automated transactions for digital services and other supported use cases.

Nevertheless, the announcement does not fully explain how permissions, transaction monitoring, or accountability for payments initiated by AI agents will be handled.

This makes the planned policy-control layer a particularly important part of the collaboration. Privy’s documentation describes wallet management features that can restrict transaction types, specify permitted payment destinations, and establish spending limits.

The partnership announcement confirms that policy controls are part of the integration’s planned development. As programmable wallets become more important to digital finance, the challenge extends beyond enabling transactions to ensuring that automated payments operate within clearly defined rules.

RippleX Executive Highlights the Partnership’s Potential

In a related statement, Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX, emphasized the role of Privy’s wallet infrastructure in helping developers bring XRP Ledger functionality into financial products.

Infanger said Privy’s technology could simplify the development of payment solutions, stablecoin services, and emerging AI-agent commerce applications. He also highlighted XRPL’s fast settlement, low transaction costs, and native support for transferring and exchanging digital assets as features that could help developers build financial products capable of scaling.

The announcement outlines the capabilities the partnership intends to deliver, but it does not yet demonstrate widespread commercial adoption. Neither company has disclosed a customer list, the number of wallets created through the integration, or transaction volumes associated with the collaboration.

The next major developments will likely involve the introduction of policy controls and gas sponsorship. For now, the companies have not announced a specific launch schedule or provided detailed technical specifications for these features.
