Crypto Week Ahead: Aug. 31 to Sept. 6
U.S. employment data will be the key macro driver for crypto markets as September gets underway, with Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report likely to command the most attention.
The July employment report showed a decline of 23,000 jobs, while downward revisions to May and June reduced payrolls by a combined 103,000. That makes the August figures particularly important for investors assessing the strength of the U.S. labor market.
Before Friday’s release, traders will receive several additional employment indicators, including ADP private payrolls and the JOLTS job-openings report. A weaker labor market could reduce expectations for another interest-rate increase, potentially putting downward pressure on Treasury yields and the dollar. Stronger employment data could reinforce the opposite view.

Governance and Token Events
Several major crypto projects have governance decisions scheduled during the week.
Cardano stakeholders are voting on changes to its Constitutional Committee, minPoolCost and Plutus memory limits. Ethena holders are considering a fee switch that would direct protocol revenue toward ENA buybacks once specified USDe supply milestones are reached.
Arbitrum is considering the launch of Fast Feed, while Sushi is seeking approval for a tokenomics restructuring and plans to move protocol liquidity to Robinhood Chain.
Lisk has a longer-running vote scheduled to Sept. 8 covering the shutdown of its DAO, the proposed burning of 100 million LSK tokens and penalty-free unstaking.
Token Unlocks
Sui is scheduled to release tokens worth approximately $10.23 million on Sept. 1, equivalent to 0.33% of its circulating supply.
Ethena follows on Sept. 5 with an unlock equal to 1.92% of circulating supply, valued at roughly $28.39 million.
No major confirmed token launches are currently scheduled.
Crypto Earnings and Conferences
Cango is scheduled to report earnings on Sept. 1 after the market closes, while Canaan is expected to report before the market opens on Sept. 3.
On the conference calendar, Origin Seoul 2026 runs from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2. Global Blockchain Congress 2026 takes place Sept. 3-4 in London, followed by Common S3nse in Amsterdam and FUTUREMODE in Taipei.
The Main Event
The U.S. jobs report on Sept. 4 will likely be the week’s biggest market catalyst. The payrolls figure, unemployment rate and broader labor-market signals could influence expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next policy move.
For crypto investors, the data could be especially important after recent shifts in rate expectations. A softer labor market could ease pressure on risk assets by reducing the likelihood of tighter monetary policy, while a stronger report could reinforce expectations for higher rates and put renewed pressure on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
