The indicator has turned positive for the first time since May as Bitcoin attempts to build a stronger position above the $80,000 level.
Bitcoin is once again trading at a premium on Coinbase compared with Binance, pointing to relatively stronger buying interest on the Nasdaq-listed U.S. exchange.
The difference between Bitcoin’s prices on the two platforms, known as the Coinbase Premium, moved into positive territory Friday for the first time since May, according to CoinGlass data.
The shift comes after Bitcoin climbed sharply from around $63,000 to above $80,000, alongside renewed demand for U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs. Several of these funds rely on Coinbase for custody services.
The ETFs, with BlackRock’s IBIT among the leaders, have attracted approximately $3.51 billion in capital, marking their strongest inflow total since October 2025, according to SoSoValue.
The Coinbase Premium is viewed as more than a simple price differential. A persistent premium has historically indicated stronger demand from U.S. investors on Coinbase compared with the offshore-focused Binance and has often appeared during Bitcoin’s major bullish cycles.
For that reason, the latest move into positive territory may need to remain in place if Bitcoin is to continue its rally and overcome key technical resistance. One of the most important hurdles is the 50-week simple moving average, which is currently positioned near $81,000.
Analysts view that moving average as the final major obstacle separating Bitcoin from a more convincing bullish breakout. A sustained move above it could provide bulls with stronger confirmation that the latest rally has further room to run.
