TON Soars 20% as Pavel Durov Reclaims Passport, Reigniting Investor Optimism
Toncoin (TON) surged over 20% in the past 24 hours, trading above $3.45 with a market cap reaching $8.14 billion, following the return of Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s passport by French authorities.
The resolution ends a travel restriction that had raised concerns among privacy advocates and Telegram users alike. Durov, known for his staunch stance on digital privacy and decentralization, had faced mounting scrutiny over the issue, which some viewed as politically motivated.
The TON Foundation, which oversees the Telegram Open Network, expressed solidarity with Durov, stating, “Pavel has been an unwavering defender of online freedom and privacy. His perseverance continues to inspire the global community.”
Investor sentiment around TON has also been lifted by recent improvements to Telegram’s Wallet app, which introduced support for multiple assets, yield-earning opportunities, and a streamlined interface—bolstering adoption and engagement across the ecosystem.
