The disruption briefly stopped transaction processing on one of Ethereum’s largest layer-2 networks.
Coinbase-backed layer-2 network Base resumed block production on Thursday after a roughly two-hour outage brought the chain to a halt.
In an update, the Base team confirmed that the network is now operational again, with internal nodes syncing properly. However, the root cause is still under investigation. Node operators across the ecosystem were also advised to restart their Base nodes to restore full synchronization.
The first sign of trouble appeared at 16:03 UTC, when Base reported that mainnet block production had become “unhealthy.” By 16:52 UTC, the team said it had identified the issue and was working on multiple fixes.
The outage temporarily stopped transaction processing on one of Ethereum’s largest layer-2 platforms. Base has not yet revealed what triggered the invalid block or whether the issue was caused by a software bug or a consensus-related problem.
Notably, the network experienced a similar outage in August 2025.
The team added that it will continue monitoring network stability and share further updates as the investigation progresses.
