HIVE Digital Scales to 10 EH/s, Doubles Down on Clean Energy Mining in Paraguay
HIVE Digital Technologies has taken a major leap in mining capacity, reaching a peak of 10.4 exahash per second (EH/s) in May — a 58% increase from the previous month — fueled by the launch of its new 100-megawatt hydro-powered facility in Paraguay.
The crypto miner produced 139 bitcoin in May, averaging 4.5 BTC per day, while maintaining fleet efficiency at 20 joules per terahash (J/TH). The company’s average global hashrate for the month came in at 8.5 EH/s, with operations now accounting for over 1% of the global Bitcoin network.
The Paraguay expansion is a key part of HIVE’s broader strategy to scale sustainably using low-cost, renewable energy. The company plans to push its hashrate to 18 EH/s this summer and 25 EH/s by year-end, positioning itself as one of the largest public miners globally.
“We’re proving that vertical integration and renewable energy are the future of efficient bitcoin mining,” said CEO Aydin Kilic. He added that further optimizations should bring daily output to 12+ BTC by Q4, with production costs falling below $50,000 per coin.
HIVE also continues to grow its Buzz division, which combines bitcoin mining with high-performance computing for AI workloads.
Shares of HIVE rose 13% on Friday, supported by bitcoin’s surge above $105,000 and investor confidence in the firm’s aggressive, green-forward expansion.
