Ripple Partners With Chipper Cash to Strengthen Cross-Border Transactions in Africa
Chipper Cash, a leading payments provider with five million users across nine African nations, has announced a partnership with Ripple to enhance international money transfers through blockchain technology.
By integrating Ripple Payments, which leverages XRP, Chipper Cash aims to offer faster, more affordable cross-border transactions compared to traditional financial systems. The partnership is expected to provide seamless, 24/7 access to international remittances, reducing costs and increasing efficiency for users.
“This collaboration with Chipper Cash marks a significant milestone in Ripple’s expansion across Africa,” said Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa. “The adoption of blockchain-based payment solutions is growing across the continent, and we are excited to empower businesses and individuals with our technology.”
This partnership builds on Ripple’s expanding presence in Africa, following its 2023 collaboration with Onafriq, a payments network that connects multiple African markets.
Despite the announcement, XRP has declined by 4.5% in the past 24 hours, mirroring a broader market downturn.
