XRP traded below $1.49 after recording three straight daily declines that pushed the token beneath the $1.50 support level. A modest rebound from the session low provided some relief, but the broader setup remains under pressure. CoinGlass data showed a long-to-short ratio of 0.975, indicating that short positions slightly exceeded longs. Meanwhile, the funding rate remained positive at 0.008%, meaning long traders were paying shorts a periodic fee to maintain perpetual futures positions.
That combination creates an important disconnect. Traders continue to pay for bullish exposure, yet XRP’s spot price has failed to respond accordingly. Persistent selling in the spot market alongside continued demand for futures positions can create an unstable setup, particularly when an important support level has already been lost.
The 0.975 long-to-short ratio does not by itself represent a strong bearish signal. Because it remains close to 1.0, the figure points to relatively balanced positioning rather than an overwhelming concentration on either side.
Funding, however, provides a different signal. A positive funding rate indicates that demand for long positions remains strong enough for long traders to compensate short traders for holding perpetual contracts. Such conditions generally reflect expectations that the underlying asset could move higher.
The same positioning can create additional downside risk if XRP continues to decline. Leveraged long positions can become sources of forced selling during a sharper drop, meaning a positive-funding environment supported by limited spot demand can deteriorate rapidly if liquidations begin.
CryptoQuant’s summary data has also pointed to elevated conditions across XRP’s spot and futures markets, while futures activity has shown sell-side dominance. This suggests that sellers remain active in derivatives despite positive funding. In other words, traders are still willing to maintain bullish exposure, but that demand has not produced enough spot buying to absorb selling pressure or push XRP through resistance.
XRP Technical Structure Remains Intact
On the daily chart, XRP’s longer-term structure remains relatively constructive. The token stayed above its 50-day EMA near $1.365 and its 200-day EMA around $1.369 during the three-day decline. The 100-day EMA sits lower at approximately $1.307 and provides another technical reference.
Momentum indicators have weakened but have not confirmed a broader reversal. RSI was around 55, keeping it near neutral territory, while the MACD had flattened close to zero. Together, the indicators are more consistent with consolidation following an earlier rally than with a confirmed breakdown.
The $1.37 region is now the key support area because the 50-day and 200-day EMAs converge around that level. A decisive break below the zone could expose XRP to approximately $1.30. A significantly deeper decline could eventually bring the psychological $1.00 level into focus, although that would require a much larger move lower.
On the upside, $1.574 remains the important resistance level. Reclaiming that area would strengthen the technical setup and potentially open the path toward $1.90.
XRP Price Outlook
The near-term outlook can be divided into two scenarios. If XRP continues to hold around $1.37, the token could remain in a consolidation phase. Positive funding would continue to show demand for long exposure, but funding alone would not confirm a breakout. A stronger move would ideally be accompanied by rising open interest and spot trading volume.
A recovery above $1.574 would provide a stronger technical signal and improve the setup for a move toward $1.90. Such a rally could also force short sellers to close positions as XRP moves higher.
Conversely, a sustained break below $1.37 would shift attention toward $1.30 as the next major support. The $1.00 level would become relevant only after a deeper deterioration and a failure of the intermediate support levels.
For now, the combination of near-balanced positioning, positive funding and futures selling leaves XRP vulnerable to a sharper move in either direction. The next sustained move in the spot market is likely to provide a clearer signal than changes in the long-to-short ratio alone.
