Metaplanet Joins MSCI Japan Index, Raises $26M to Expand Bitcoin Holdings
Japanese Bitcoin-focused firm Metaplanet (3350) is set to be included in the MSCI Japan Index on February 28, CEO Simon Gerovich announced.
The MSCI Japan Index tracks major Japanese stocks and serves as a benchmark for global institutional investors. Metaplanet’s inclusion is expected to boost its exposure to international funds and ETFs that follow the index.
Gerovich celebrated the milestone on X, noting that the listing enhances Metaplanet’s credibility, visibility, and access to passive investment flows, reinforcing its role as Asia’s leading Bitcoin treasury company.
Additionally, Metaplanet confirmed it had completed a $26 million (4 billion yen) fundraising round through 0% unsecured, unguaranteed ordinary bonds, with the capital allocated toward purchasing more Bitcoin as part of its long-term strategy.
