Ripple has made its debut in the Portuguese market through a strategic partnership with Unicâmbio, a leading Portuguese currency exchange provider. This collaboration aims to enhance cross-border payment efficiency between Portugal and Brazil, utilizing Ripple’s advanced payments solutions, which leverage digital assets for faster, more affordable settlements.
The partnership allows Unicâmbio’s corporate clients to settle international payments in just minutes, marking Ripple’s first significant move into Portugal’s vibrant crypto ecosystem. Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s Managing Director for the UK and Europe, expressed excitement about the expansion, emphasizing Portugal’s growing crypto sector.
“By linking our payment networks in Portugal and Brazil, we are enabling quicker and more cost-effective cross-border transactions while strengthening the economic connection between these two key markets,” said Craddock.
Ripple’s payment network operates on the XRP Ledger, offering a platform where users can exchange fiat currencies and crypto assets seamlessly across a network of financial institutions, using XRP as the transaction medium.
