Tether Boosts Bitcoin Reserves by 8,888 BTC in Q1 2025, Reaching 92,646 BTC Total
Tether, the dominant stablecoin issuer, has increased its bitcoin holdings by 8,888 BTC, totaling 92,646 BTC as of Q1 2025. The company spent $735 million to acquire the additional bitcoins, continuing its strategy of dedicating 15% of its quarterly profits to bitcoin purchases—a strategy it has followed since May 2023.
With bitcoin’s current price hovering around $83,000, Tether’s bitcoin reserves are now valued at approximately $7.7 billion. As the issuer of USDT, the world’s largest stablecoin with a market capitalization of $143 billion, Tether generated $13 billion in profits last year, primarily through the interest from its significant holdings of U.S. Treasuries that back the USDT supply.
This bitcoin acquisition further solidifies Tether’s financial position and reinforces its commitment to growing its digital asset reserves.
