Real-Time Price Oracle Launch by Uranium.io Sparks Shake-Up in Uranium Market

Uranium.io Launches Real-Time Pricing Oracle, Bringing Transparency to the Uranium Market

Uranium.io, the blockchain platform that tokenizes uranium, has unveiled a near-real-time pricing oracle aimed at tackling long-standing transparency issues in the uranium market.

Unlike commodities such as gold, oil, or base metals, uranium pricing has largely relied on private over-the-counter transactions, leaving market participants without clear, real-time price signals. Uranium.io’s oracle addresses this gap by aggregating data from spot price feeds, uranium ETFs, mining stocks, and other related assets, updating its spot price estimate every 60 seconds.

“Although uranium trades privately, its value is constantly reflected in public markets through ETFs, mining equities, and specialized funds,” said Ben Elvidge, Head of Commercial Applications at Trilitech and Product Lead for Uranium.io. “Our oracle uses statistical modeling to translate these signals into a near-real-time price, similar to how benchmarks work for other commodities.”

Tokenization Makes Uranium Accessible
Through Uranium.io, investors can own fractional shares of physical uranium (U₃O₈, or “yellowcake”), stored in regulated facilities operated by Cameco, the world’s largest publicly traded uranium producer. The assets are verified, registered on the Tezos blockchain, and represented digitally via xU308 tokens.

Arthur Breitman, Tezos co-founder, emphasized the market impact: “The oracle injects efficient pricing information into the market, improving liquidity and enhancing price discovery, creating a virtuous cycle for uranium trading.”

Uranium ETFs Outperform Bitcoin
The launch comes amid strong investor interest in uranium-related instruments. The Global Uranium ETF (URA) has surged 71% year-to-date, far outpacing Bitcoin ETFs like BlackRock’s IBIT, which has risen 27%. Uranium’s role in clean energy, powering nuclear reactors for low-carbon electricity, continues to drive demand despite regulatory hurdles that have historically limited direct ownership.

With its pricing oracle and tokenized assets, Uranium.io is making uranium markets more transparent, liquid, and accessible to both retail and institutional investors.
