MicroStrategy Acquires 11,000 Bitcoin for $1.1B, Bringing Total Holdings to 461K BTC
Led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, MicroStrategy (MSTR) has once again bolstered its Bitcoin reserves. For the week ending January 19, the company purchased 11,000 BTC for $1.1 billion, increasing its total Bitcoin holdings to 461,000 BTC. The average price of the latest acquisition was $101,191 per Bitcoin, bringing the overall average purchase price for the company’s Bitcoin holdings to $63,610.
In a typical Saylor move, he teased the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, posting, “Things will be different tomorrow.” Following the announcement, Saylor shared several photos featuring Eric Trump, David Sacks, and Robert Kennedy Jr.
In premarket trading, MicroStrategy’s stock saw a slight dip, while Bitcoin traded at $104,500, a small decline from Friday afternoon’s close. U.S. markets were closed on Monday in observance of the MLK holiday.
