Metaplanet Expands Its Bitcoin Position with a 330 BTC Purchase as BTC Climbs Past $87K

Metaplanet Acquires 330 More Bitcoin, Bringing Holdings to 4,855 BTC as Bitcoin Surges Past $87K

Metaplanet, the publicly traded Japanese firm, announced on Monday that it had purchased an additional 330 Bitcoin (BTC), bringing its total holdings to 4,855 BTC, valued at over $420 million at current market prices. The purchase comes as Bitcoin climbs above the $87,300 threshold, reversing losses from the previous week.

This marks Metaplanet’s third Bitcoin purchase this month, despite broader economic challenges and uncertainty surrounding tariffs. Earlier this month, the company also became the tenth-largest public holder of Bitcoin, further establishing its position in the cryptocurrency market.

But Metaplanet is not the only Japanese company making moves in Bitcoin. Fashion brand ANAP Holdings also bought approximately 16.66 BTC (worth about 200 million yen, or $1.4 million) last week. The company plans to manage its Bitcoin assets through its subsidiary, ANAP Lightning Capital, and will conduct quarterly evaluations of the market value of its holdings, with any changes reflected in its profit and loss statements.

ANAP’s Bitcoin yield stands at 12.1% for the quarter so far, down from the previous quarter’s yield of 95%. This metric, referred to as “BTC Yield,” is a proprietary calculation used by ANAP to measure the growth of Bitcoin per fully diluted share.

While U.S. equity markets have struggled, with a $5.4 trillion loss following President Trump’s tariff announcement in early April, Bitcoin has proven to be more resilient. The cryptocurrency only experienced a 6% drop during the same period, illustrating its relative stability in a volatile financial landscape.

Meanwhile, Metaplanet’s stock on the Tokyo Stock Exchange has seen a nearly 0.9% increase since market open, reflecting positive sentiment from investors as the company continues to expand its Bitcoin holdings.
