Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Portfolio by 1,088 Coins, Total Value Now Above $930M

Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Holdings by 1,088 BTC, Surpassing 8,888 BTC Worth Over $930 Million

On Monday, Japanese company Metaplanet announced the purchase of an additional 1,088 bitcoins, increasing its total reserves to more than 8,888 BTC. This latest acquisition values the firm’s bitcoin holdings at over $930 million.

The transaction cost Metaplanet roughly 16.885 billion yen (around $117.5 million), with an average bitcoin price of approximately 15.5 million yen ($108,051) per coin, according to company filings.

Metaplanet’s aggressive accumulation strategy, initiated with the launch of its official Bitcoin treasury policy in April 2024, has quickly positioned the company as the largest corporate bitcoin holder in Asia and among the top ten globally.

So far in 2025, Metaplanet has added 7,126 BTC to its portfolio, on pace to meet its year-end goal of 10,000 BTC. This move follows the recent issuance of $50 million in zero-interest bonds, which provided fresh capital for BTC purchases without diluting shareholder equity.

Year-to-date, Metaplanet reports a BTC yield of 66.3%, with a total gain of 2,684 BTC, equating to roughly 40.5 billion yen in value.

Bitcoin hovered above $105,000 in Asian trading on Monday, with little change over the previous 24 hours.
