Elon Musk’s X Expands Into Crypto and Stock Trading With Major Partners

Elon Musk’s X has introduced a new feature allowing U.S. users to move from market discussions on their timelines to actual crypto and stock trades with just a few taps.

The feature is now available in the U.S. and lets users select cashtags such as $BTC or $TSLA to view live price charts and related posts before selecting the “Trade” option. From there, users are directed to one of X’s trading partners, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase, where they can sign in or create an account and place an order.

X itself is not acting as a broker under the new system. Instead, the platform provides a direct connection between financial discussions and trading services, while all purchases and sales continue to be executed through the partner platforms.

Cashtags have been part of X for years, giving users a way to track conversations around stocks and other financial assets. Earlier this year, X expanded the feature by adding live prices and real-time charts.

The latest trading integration represents another step in Musk’s broader push to transform X into a more comprehensive financial platform.

“Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself,” said Mridul Singhai, X’s product engineering lead.

The move could be particularly significant for crypto markets given X’s large global audience and its established role in the digital-asset community. Daily engagement is estimated at around 132 million users on mobile devices and more than 245 million across all devices worldwide.

X also serves as a major hub for crypto-related discussions, where posts from influential market participants can quickly affect sentiment and liquidity across exchanges.

This broad “town-square” effect differentiates X from platforms such as Discord and Telegram, where crypto conversations are frequently spread across private groups and individual channels. By linking those discussions directly to trading platforms, the new feature could further strengthen X’s position as a destination for financial market activity.
