Solana Surges Amid Altcoin Rotation, Analyst Predicts Potential to Mirror Ether Rally
Solana (SOL) has emerged as one of the top-performing cryptocurrencies recently, trading around $211 on Monday—up 33% from early August lows. The token has also gained 34% against bitcoin and 14% versus ether (ETH) since mid-August, reflecting a broader shift into altcoins, analysts say.
“The trend of profit redistribution across crypto holdings is ongoing,” said Sergei Gorev, head of risk at YouHodler. He highlighted liquidity moving out of BTC into second-tier tokens, noting SOL and XRP as standout assets benefiting from increased capital flows.
Jeff Dorman, chief investment officer at Arca, believes SOL could replicate Ethereum’s nearly 200% rally earlier this year, which was driven by stablecoin adoption, robust ETF inflows, and strong demand from digital asset treasuries (DATs).
“SOL appears set to follow the same playbook ETH executed,” Dorman wrote. He pointed out that Solana-focused DATs are raising funds that could channel up to $2.65 billion into SOL over the next month, a sizable inflow considering SOL’s market cap is roughly one-fifth of ETH’s, potentially amplifying price reactions.
The first U.S.-listed Solana ETF, launched in July, is futures-based, while several firms—including VanEck and Fidelity—have filed for spot ETFs, with approvals expected later this year.
Recent developments could further boost momentum. Galaxy Digital tokenized its shares on Solana, and the upcoming Alpenglow upgrade promises faster transaction speeds and improved finality, reinforcing positive sentiment around the network.
Dorman summed up the opportunity:
“SOL might be the most obvious long right now. If ETH rose nearly 200% on roughly $20 billion of new demand, imagine what SOL could do with $2.5 billion or more in fresh flows.”
