Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings with 555 BTC, Issues Additional $25M in Bonds
Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet (3350) has raised an additional $25 million through a bond sale to EVO FUND, marking the second such offering in just days. The proceeds will go toward further expanding the firm’s Bitcoin reserves.
The newly issued bonds are interest-free and will mature on November 6, according to an announcement from Metaplanet on X (formerly Twitter).
In a separate update, Metaplanet confirmed the purchase of 555 BTC for 7.63 billion yen ($53.5 million), bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 5,555 BTC. This makes Metaplanet the largest non-North American public Bitcoin holder, according to Bitcoin Treasuries.
The announcement spurred investor confidence, with Metaplanet’s stock rising 11.5% to close at 477 yen ($3.33) on Wednesday.
