A network outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Tuesday caused widespread disruptions for several crypto platforms, including Binance and KuCoin, leading to issues with withdrawals and trade execution.
Binance addressed the situation promptly in an X post, explaining that a temporary network interruption within the AWS data center was affecting some of its services. “Some orders are still successful, but some are failing,” Binance said, encouraging users to retry if their transactions didn’t go through.
The exchange resumed withdrawals just five minutes after the initial report, but users continued to report difficulties placing trades on both Binance and KuCoin, according to social media updates.
Beyond exchanges, crypto wallet Rabby and the on-chain analytics service DeBank also reported outages, further indicating the extent of the disruption.
AWS powers much of the infrastructure behind online services, including major crypto apps, so any disruption in its cloud network can have cascading effects across the digital economy. As of now, AWS has not publicly addressed the specific cause or impact of the outage.
