Infini Offers Financial Reward to Anyone Who Helps Recover $49 Million Taken in Exploit

Infini Offers 20% Reward for Return of Stolen $49.5M, Warns Hacker of Legal Action

Infini, a prepaid card issuer and stablecoin-based neobank, has reached out to the hacker who drained $49.5 million from its wallets, offering a 20% reward if the funds are returned within 48 hours. If the perpetrator refuses, the company has vowed to escalate the matter with law enforcement.

The breach wiped out nearly all of Infini’s total value locked (TVL), which had just crossed the $50 million mark days before the attack, according to security firm PeckShield.

Infini sent an on-chain message to the attacker, stating it had “gathered critical IP and device information” and was actively tracking the stolen assets. The company warned that it would take immediate steps to freeze the funds but preferred a peaceful resolution.

“In an effort to resolve this situation amicably, we are offering you 20% of the stolen funds if returned voluntarily. You have 48 hours to comply, or we will pursue all available legal avenues,” the message read.

According to blockchain security firm Cyvers, the attack was carried out by a developer who had retained admin access to Infini’s smart contracts. After months of inactivity, they exploited these permissions to siphon the funds into a wallet linked to Tornado Cash, a crypto mixer used to obscure transactions.

Christian Li, Infini’s founder, has taken full responsibility for the incident and pledged to personally cover the losses to ensure users are reimbursed.
