James Wynn Returns with 3x Leveraged ASTER Bet Following Liquidation – 28/9/2025
James Wynn, the pseudonymous trader behind a billion-dollar Bitcoin wager earlier this year, is back in the market. Just days after being liquidated on ASTER, Wynn has opened a new 3x leveraged long on the token.
The trade, first noted by Onchain Lens, is valued at over $16,000, entered at $1.97 with a liquidation price around $1.57. Though smaller in dollar terms compared to Wynn’s past positions, the move appears aimed at securing ASTER’s upcoming airdrop.
“I’m farming the $ASTER airdrop,” Wynn wrote on X. “I believe it will be one of the biggest [in] crypto history.”
This is the latest in Wynn’s high-risk strategy on Hyperliquid, an on-chain derivatives platform. Earlier this year, he executed a $1.2 billion Bitcoin long using 40x leverage, which closed with a $17.5 million loss before he shifted into a billion-dollar short, at one point risking his entire $50 million wallet.
Wynn ultimately walked away “a wynner,” netting $25 million in profit. His return to ASTER highlights his continued appetite for leveraged, high-stakes positions in crypto.
